CISF Trustees Information

Barbara Whittle
Barbara is the independent Chairperson appointed by the Minister.  Her appointment was made on the 13th  September 2005.  Barbara has had extensive experience as a Director of various Boards including BankWest and is currently employed with BOS International as a solicitor.

Russell Conley
Russell is an Employer Nominated Trustee and was appointed on 7th of May 2010. Russell is Chief Executive Office Griffin Coal Mining Company and has held that position since July 2008.

Steven Reynolds
Steve is an Employer nominated Trustee and was appointed on 1 July 2006.  He is currently the Human Resources Manager of Wesfarmers Premier Coal.

Gary Wood
Gary has been an Employee Elected Trustee since 1 July 1988 and is the Secretary for the CFMEU Mining & Energy Division WA District and Secretary for the Coal Miners Industrial Union of Workers of WA.

Gary Faries
Gary has been a Member Elected Trustee since July 2007 and previously an Alternate Elected Trustee from July 2005. Gary is a tradesman for Wesfarmers Premier Coal where he has been employed since 1981.

FEATURES OF CISF

The Coal Industry Superannuation Fund provides for its members:

  • A defined benefit scheme based on a benchmark amount for all members.

  • Cost to the member is 3% of the benchmark amount.

  • Cost to the employer can range between 7% and 10% of the benchmark amount and is currently set at 8.5%.

  • Administration charges are not directly deducted from members benefits but have been taken into account in the formula calculations for benefit payments by the Actuary.

  • Death and disability cover is included in the benefits at no additional cost (subject to a medical report).

  • Preservation of benefits is available to members.

  • Member Protection is automatically provided in that no member’s benefit, including preserved benefits, is diminished by fees.

  • Members may make after tax contributions, salary sacrifice contributions and award contributions to an accumulation account in the Fund.

  • Members with accumulation only accounts (that is those with no defined benefit) r week deducted from their accounts.

  • Account Based Pensions available at minimal cost to members.

  • Access to MBF Corporate Health Plan.
